Fishing Tackle Insurance - Why is it important to insure your Fishing Tackle ?

This may seem a silly question, but fishing tackle insurance is something you should look at quite seriously.

You may be amazed at how much your entire collection of fishing tackle is actually worth. If you have a spare moment then take a pad and a pen and write down the value of each major item of tackle, such as rods, reels, box, nets etc. Then after you have done that, average out how much each float costs - each packet of hooks, weights etc. Even the small stuff you have accumulated probably cost you a small fortune in dribs and drabs. I'm betting it will all come to a pretty penny and will actually scare/surprise you.

OK, now imagine the unthinkable - my god someones nicked my fishing tackle !

It isn't as unthinkable as you think, and I speak through bitter experience because it happened to me. Oh yes I meant to get it insured - it was on my "to do" list, but apparently I was on someone elses "to do" list as well - and they did me.

Fishing tackle is like any other commodity - your car, your hi-fi equipment, your jewellery, it has a street value, and if they can make profit by your misfortune they will in a heartbeat.
