Mission impossible….

We’ve learnt a lot about the design and manufacture of fishing rods in the past 40 years. Yet still technology moves on increasingly fast and so do the demands of the modern day carp angler. Designing the ultimate carp rod is by no means a unique brief. But achieving it has always been thought impossible. At Greys we don’t believe in impossible, even if it does take nearly four years! All of our carbon technologies and expertise have been brought together and pushed to the limits. We have used some of latest technology available, such as Formula One racing carbons, advanced materials used in military components and Computer Aided Design such as Finite Element Analysis. This has resulted in the rod being lighter and far more responsive than any previous design. The power to weight ration has been increased immensely, yet still retains a soft fish playing tip but still with ultra-fast tip recovery at the end of a cast. Under compression, the tip has been cleverly engineered to transfer maximum energy into the power generating butt sections. On the bank, the work of the engineers is there to appreciate. For example, the 13’ model features a 20% step-up in power with recorded casting distances in excess of 250 yards! After a further year of vigorous testing by both man and machine, tournament casters & carp anglers, Greys are proud to give the modern day angler what they really deserve, the pinnacle of carp rod design.
