42 lb carp caught at Pendle View
BREAKING NEWS.........................................Main Lake.
Everyone is so excited at Pendle View at the moment with the news that a 42lb common carp has been caught. We are sure that this a record for a northwest water. The fish was caught in the early hours of Sunday morning. (5.12.2004 at 2.30) The lucky angler was Chris Boyle from Westhoughton in Bolton. I emailed Chris as soon as I could and asked him for the lowdown on his fantastic catch. Chris said that this was the first time he had fished Pendle View and he came because his son Darren wanted to fish our pond. (Good decision Darren). Chris said they went on peg 71/72 and caught the fish on a single pineapple bottom fished boillie with 5 free boilies in a pva bag which he bought from our onsite shop. Chris said what was so ironic was that the fish that he caught was actually on Darren's rod. Sadly Darren was snoring and did not hear his alarm bite. Chris said I ran out of the bivvy just as Darren's rod pod was up on two feet on its way into the lake. Chris's previous personal best was an 18lb common carp. Christmas has certainly come early for Chris. I have just released the news to all the angling publications. I can imagine that Chris's son is feeling a bit down at the moment. Just to cheer you up Darren so is Anthony Farrow the angler who was on peg 71/72 just before you. Anthony also had a good session on this peg on the Friday when he caught a 26lb 6oz mirror and a 15lb common. According to one of my bailiffs Anthony was toying with upgrading but decided not to at the last minute. I understand that Darren is not a happy bunny at the moment. The only other reported catch this week was a 15lb common on the dam wall. Well I was only saying in my last email that this time last year we had our biggest fish out. Just shows you that Pendle View is not only a brilliant venue in the summer - but is fast becoming a very popular winter venue.
A 35lb cat fish was also caught this week by an angler who did not give his name. We have notified the EA so that the fish can be taken from our waters. So my other half, Philip was right all along he always said we had three cat fish in our water.
Main Lake ........pleasure fishing.
There have not been a lot of pleasure men on the lake this week. Those that have fished have had the odd roach and skimmer.
Match Lake
Again not many anglers have fished this lake, but those that have have caught carp and roach. One angler said he caught a decent tench.
Fly Lake
The week before all our anglers were doing well on eggs. This week the most successful have been cats whisker and fritz. The averages for the week are as follows:
Monday 3.3
Tuesday 4.3
Wednesday 5.8
Thursday 4.7
Friday 8.2
Sat 7.0
A nice 7lb brownie and a 8lb rainbow have been reported amongst the catches this week.
Just a reminder that we are open all through the Christmas period including Christmas Day - Boxing Day and New Years Eve. One of our chalets is booked for the Christmas week but we still have one chalet free.
Vouchers are available (great christmas present idea) from the office. These can be redeemed against fishing tickets - bait and tackle and any of our food items.
Have a nice week everyone.
best wishes
