Pendle View Fisheries - Report 7th Nov 2004
Hi everyone just a few bits and bats before I do the fishing report. First of our cooking times have changed for the winter months. Monday to Friday cooking times are 7.00am to 5.00pm and Saturday and Sunday are 7.00am to 6.00pm. (These times will be extended during the summer months to 8.00pm at night).
Thanks to all those who have wished Philip well during his recent hernia operation. He is slowly getting back his energy levels. We went to the fisheries today for the first time since his operation. Our electrics have been playing up at the fisheries and Philip is the only one who knows what he is doing on electrics. Think he managed to sort out most of the problem.
For 2005 the four owners are trying to take more of a back seat in the business. Now that we have lots of staff we can at last do more of the behind the scenes work. Our employees - Tracey - Gary, Andy, Darren and Alex will be available to help you during the main opening hours.
There are still lots of projects to do so as soon as Philip is fully recovered he will be back. As the lady who does all the marketing side of the business I will at long last have time to work on a special project that I have wanted to do at the fisheries for some time and that is come along to the fisheries during the weekend and get to understand our anglers needs in more detail. I want to find out what you like about Pendle View and what we could do better. We try very hard to take customer care very seriously at Pendle View and its only by talking to you and listening to what you say can we improve things. So in a nut shell you will probably see me on the banks (during the weekends).
New Web site for Pendle View
As you know Philip and I had a computer company before we had the fisheries and so one of the things we have always wanted to do was to write our own web site. The site we have now is fine - but I want one that we can update every day, and one which our anglers can also add pieces to. A sort of open forum. I hope to start writing the site during the winter months.
And now for the fishing report.
Main Lake
I am delighted to say that after many quiet weeks carp wise - it has been a much better week. On Tuesday the tom tom drums began to work as a carper noticed quite a few carp rise and roll in our waters. The following carp were reported caught this week.
Tuesday 10lb ghostie caught from pegs 20/21 on fusion boilie - caught in mid water on loose pellet. Thursday 26lb 8oz mirror, and a 9lb common caught from peg 65/66. Both fish were caught on fusion boilies (pop up). Friday a 17lb 8oz mirror was caught on an active 8 from peg 20/21. On Sunday a 17lb 6oz common was caught.
Main Lake (pleasure fishing)
Pleasure fishing has been quite good this week. We have seen some good bream. One angler caught 6 good bream the biggest being 10lb. Roach and Perch have also shown this week. I spoke to some fishermen today during my visit and they had caught some roach and perch.
Match Lake (pleasure fishing)
Some good carp numbers have shown this week along with roach and perch.
Fly Lake
The average catches for the week are as follows:
Monday 2.8
Tuesday 6.7
Wednesday 5.0
Thursday 3.1
Friday 5.7
Saturday 7.6
The biggest fish caught were a 7lb brownie and a 6lb brownie.
We last fished the lake on 5th November (we stock every Friday).
The best tactics are olive tadpoles, cats whisker, bloodworm, Fritz
and yellow buzzer.
PENDLE VIEW FISHING VOUCHERS
I have just introduced some fishing vouchers. So if your are asked by your wife/girlfriend/lover/or a relative what you want for Christmas and you would like something to do with fishing then tell them you would like a voucher from Pendle View. The vouchers can either be purchased direct from the office at Pendle View or you can ring the office and ask for vouchers to be sent out. Our office number is 01254 822208. The vouchers can be spent on - fishing tickets - tackle or bait and catering items. The vouchers are denominations of £5, £10, and £20. We ran this idea last year and we had lots of people who were interested. One lady bought her husband £100 worth of vouchers for his birthday. He was well chuffed.
Lastly I would like to send a big thank you to one of our anglers - Mark Procter. For some time now I have been wondering how we can encourage more lady anglers to try fishing. As you will see from the attachment in this email - Mark has come up with a cracking suggestion.
Have a good week everyone.
best wishes
